A Bit About Us
Beavertown began life 11 years ago in a tiny BBQ joint in Haggerston, North London. In 2020 we opened BEAVERWORLD, our Out of this World brewery & mothership in Enfield. Alongside our Lockwood Brewery in Tottenham Hale and our micro-brewery at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium we have the capacity to brew a staggering 90 million pints a year.

The Role
Fancy joining the Quality Team where you’ll ensure that all of our beer is produced to the highest standards through Microbiological, analytical, and sensory checks.

In this role, you’ll provide support with general Lab practices including collection and management of samples, yeast health management, cleaning of the Lab and the production of daily Lab reports.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • General lab
  • Good Lab practice and maintenance of high standards of safety
  • Collect, manage and process samples according to the sampling plan
  • Yeast health management including cultivation and propagation, when required
  • Prepare stock solutions and media, inoculating and incubating samples
  • Simultaneously deal with multiple support activities and requests
  • Work on becoming a cross-functional QC Lab team member (phys-chem, microbiology, sensory)
  • Clean and decontaminate the Laboratory
  • Help to maintain all Quality standards within the Laboratory
  • Be part of projects and project support team member


Data reporting

  • Record data efficiently
  • Produce daily reports of physical-chemical and microbiological results for all sites, or other sites if needed
  • Communicate the Laboratory results and main constraints efficiently in the Department to the internal team during dedicated meetings or via internal messaging system

 

Stock and supply management

  • Manage Lab stock and resources: maintenance of incoming inspection plan
  • Extra:
  • Contribute to Beavertown events and festivals and represent the brewery in public
  • Increase your understanding of the art and science of brewing through study and investigation
  • Demonstrate the ‘Beavertown Way’ to visitors and clients through your knowledge, enthusiasm, and hospitality


What you’ll bring to us
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Brewing Science, Biology, Chemistry or another relevant field; or relevant technical experience
  • Evidence of effective communication within and between teams
  • Able to work efficiently and with incredible attention to detail
  • Ability to think and operate with initiative and troubleshoot wherever necessary
  • Flexible and quick to learn


Desirable:

  • Project investigation related to food or beverages
  • Experience or contact with the brewing industry
  • Willing and eager to work towards IBD certification or equivalent
